Welcome to Our Info Page

Edible Campus is a student society aimed at showcasing the best sustainability practices in food production and consumption. We strive to show the importance of a healthy food system that preserves the environment and provides nutritious food while also nurturing a sense of community.
If you want to learn how to grow veggies, cook food and have fun in a relaxing, social setting in an outdoor space, we’ve got it.
Our main site of action is the ECOHub – situated opposite Lonsdale College (see map). It is fitted with a polytunnel, a greenhouse, numerous raised beds, two wildlife ponds, and a rustic stone barn.
This page is designed to give you an overview of the society.

Action Days

Wednesdays 13:00-16:00

Saturdays 13:00-16:00

Simply meet us at the ECOHub!

Whether you are a novice or an experienced gardener, come get your hand dirty and volunteer at our Action Days at the ECOHub! This term we currently have Action Days on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Action Days are dedicated to the grow plan and site maintenance; typical jobs include sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, weeding, harvesting, etc. Alongside the Action Days we also hold a market stall where you can buy our produce - although our volunteers can harvest veggies for free in exchange for their hard work! All tools and equipment are provided, including wellies and waterproofs.

Products & Sale

Freshly harvested Edible Campus produce is sold at our market stall during term time - currently on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the ECOHub. In addition to the produce we grow, we sell a wide range of organic grocery goods, such as jams and cordials.

A Broader Purpose

Sustainability: We operate based on the fundamental principle of minimal environmental impact. We favour organic, small-scale approaches as well as local and seasonal food consumption. We endeavour to reduce plastic in our production and retail process.

Social Project: We aim to enhance community involvement in the Edible Campus project while also acting as a forum for students to voice their ideas, concerns and aspirations for sustainable food on campus. We believe there is social value in creating a community where students with common sustainability values can interact. In addition, the Edible Campus community project can have a positive impact on mental health and well-being; it can operate as a release from studies and university life.

Executive Community

Our society is run by keen students and staff who endeavour to provide our members with the best Edible Campus experience. We are all friendly and approachable, so don't be afraid to come talk to us!
